SURREY, BRITISH COLUMBIA – Caroma®, the worldwide leader in quality bathroom products, including high-efficiency, dual-flush toilets for commercial and residential use, did their part to raise awareness for Earth Day by launching their “What’s Your GPF?” promotion. Throughout the month of April, visitors to Caroma’s Facebook page who submitted a photograph of themselves on a toilet while holding up a sheet of paper with the toilet’s “GPF” written on it, were entered to win a Caroma Sydney Smart high-efficiency toilet (HET). Winners of the Caroma “What’s Your GPF?” promotion were announced at the end of each week in April – in all 20 Caroma Sydney Smart toilets were given away.
The GPF (gallons per flush) refers to how much water is released each time a toilet is flushed and the “What’s Your GPF?” promotion was a great opportunity for individuals to utilize this specification to increase awareness about water conservation. Those interested in participating could easily find the GPF of their toilet by looking for a GPF label or checking the manufacturer’s date stamp on their toilet. Once they took a photo of themselves with the GPF information, consumers posted it on Caroma’s Facebook Wall or Tweeted the photo to @CaromaUSA on Twitter and used the hashtag #GPF.
“Caroma has always said that ‘One Flush Makes a Difference’ and the 2011 ‘What’s Your GPF?’ promotion not only exemplifies our philosophy, but aligns it with the eco-awareness surrounding Earth Day,” said Derek Kirkpatrick, Caroma North America General Manager. “Furthermore, it cultivates a strong awareness at the consumer level, to all that Caroma does to promote water-efficiency.”
The promotion brought awareness to the United States federal law which requires that new toilets must not exceed 1.6 GPF. Caroma, a WaterSense® partner, is in a unique position within the industry to meet and even exceed the requirement. The HET category has set a standard in North America with 1.28 GPF; Caroma’s HET’s go even further with an average flush of 1.06 GPF in their standard collection. Caroma’s Smart Series features an industry breaking 0.96 GPF.
